What
Claude Code finds skills, saved sets of instructions, in skill folders as you work. For a skill folder outside the current working tree (the checked-out copy of your project you are working in), it now loads the folder only after confirming that git does not ignore it. Before, it checked only against the project root.
Folders that are shortcuts (symlinks) have the place they point to checked as well.
Folders that cannot be confirmed yet are skipped for now and checked again later.
Skipped folders are noted in Claude Code's log.
Why
Skills from ignored folders, or from other copies of a project, are no longer picked up without a check. If a skill you expect is missing, its folder may be ignored or not yet confirmed.
