What
Compaction is when Claude Code shrinks a long conversation so it fits, keeping some recent messages and summarising the rest. When applying a compaction, the list of messages to keep was taken from a different value than the rest of the result. Both now come from the same compaction result.
Why
This may stop the wrong messages from being kept after a conversation is compacted.
