What
A subagent is a helper agent that Claude starts to handle part of a task, sometimes in the background. When one of these is resumed, Claude Code now:
- builds notices about which tools the agent used and passes them in
- passes the resumed agent the set of tools available to it, including tools for review
- includes the tools used when the agent hands its result back
When working out which kind of agent ran a web fetch, Claude Code no longer trusts information that came from the live output stream.
Why
This changes what a resumed subagent sees when it picks up again, and what it reports back when it finishes.
