What
A cloud session is a Claude Code session stored on Anthropic's service, and its transcript is the saved record of the conversation, fetched one page at a time. When a long conversation is compacted, older messages are replaced by a summary to save space.
The description of the transcript request now says that for a compacted session, the service returns only the messages its last compaction kept. Messages that the compaction summarized may not appear on any page.
Why
Anything that reads a cloud session's transcript page by page should not assume it has the whole conversation once it reaches the last page.
