What
Builtins are commands that are part of the shell itself rather than separate programs. Claude Code keeps a list of shell builtins that it uses when deciding how to handle commands Claude wants to run. These zsh builtins are now on that list, next to autoload and functions:
zformat
zparseopts
zstyle
zregexparse
getln
vared
Why
If you use zsh, commands that use these builtins may now be handled differently when Claude Code checks whether a shell command needs your permission.
