What

A gateway is a server that sits between Claude Code and the model provider and passes requests along. When Claude Code checks a gateway host and connects to it to find out which models it offers, it now uses any extra CA certificates you have configured. A CA certificate is a file that tells a program which secure connections to trust.

The request that looks up the gateway's models also carries some extra request options based on the gateway host.

Why

People behind a corporate proxy that uses its own certificates may now be able to reach their gateway's model list where that connection failed before.
