When a conversation grows too long, Claude Code can compact it, meaning it replaces older messages with a summary. The call that writes this summary now accepts an extra option. When automatic compaction fails, the failure report Claude Code records now also includes details about the agent that was running.
Why
This is internal rework of how compaction is built. It does not show any change you would notice when using Claude Code.
