What
In this release, the instructions Claude Code gives Claude for the Bash tool (the tool that runs shell commands) include new guidance about GitHub mentions. They explain that GitHub notifies the owner of any @name written in a pull request, issue or comment. Claude is told to write a bare @name only for a real login it means to notify, and to handle roles and placeholders differently.
Why
When Claude writes pull requests, issues or comments for you, this should stop it from pinging unrelated GitHub users by accident with a role name or a placeholder written as an @ mention.
