What
Skills are reusable sets of instructions Claude Code can load. When loading project skills, Claude Code now drops same-named skills found in other skill folders, and compares folders by their real location on disk. When two skills would end up with the same name, one is not offered and a log line says another skill would share the name.
Why
In repositories with duplicate skill names, this changes which skills Claude Code can use.
