What
The sandbox is a fenced-off area that limits what commands can touch. Claude Code has a new status hint, a short line shown in its interface, that reads: "Starting the sandbox · setting file permissions can take a few minutes, mostly the first time in a large project". It is marked high priority, so it should show ahead of other hints.
Why
It explains a long wait while the sandbox starts on Windows, so the pause does not look like a freeze.
