Unclear It is unclear whether this setup runs for every Windows user who uses the sandbox or only in some setups.
What
The sandbox is a restricted area where Claude Code runs commands so that they cannot reach everything on your computer. On Windows, the first time the sandbox starts, Claude Code now runs a setup check. While it runs, Claude Code shows: "Setting up the Windows sandbox. Approve the administrator prompt if Windows shows one. After that, set-up can take a few minutes."
Why
Windows users may see a request for administrator permission, and the first start can be slow. Neither is a sign that something has gone wrong.
