What
The SDK lets developers run Claude Code from their own program, called the host, which talks to it through control requests. Three new control requests are added:
list_cloud_sessionslists cloud sessions.get_cloud_sessionfetches one cloud session.get_cloud_session_transcriptfetches its transcript.
They are refused, each with its own message, when:
- started inside a Claude Code session
- running in a cloud-hosted session ('is not available in a cloud-hosted session')
- using a provider other than Anthropic's own
- running an evaluation
CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_NONESSENTIAL_TRAFFICis set ('Cloud sessions are unavailable while CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_NONESSENTIAL_TRAFFIC is set.')- an organisation policy forbids it
- you are not signed in with a Claude account (Console sign-ins are refused)
The list of known request names also gains sdk_list_cloud_sessions, sdk_get_cloud_session and sdk_get_cloud_session_transcript, plus names for the Windows sandbox's first start and uninstall.
Why
Programs built on the SDK can now find and read your cloud sessions, and get a clear reason when they are not allowed to.
