What
MCP servers are add-on programs that give Claude Code extra tools. A plugin can bring its own MCP server (named starting with plugin:), and if the same service is also available as a claude.ai connector, Claude Code removes the duplicate. Before, every plugin server that matched a claude.ai connector was removed.
There is now a new path for the case where the matching connector fails an eligibility check, meaning it could not be used anyway:
- With the flag
tengu_delightful_hamsteron, the plugin server is kept. - Without it, the code falls back to false and the plugin server is dropped, as before.
- In both cases Claude Code logs how many plugin servers were involved and whether they were kept.
The flag can be switched by a value from the server. Nothing has been read about this flag, so whether it is on for anyone is unknown.
Why
When it applies, a plugin's MCP server no longer disappears just because it duplicates a connector that could not be used, so its tools stay available.
