What
When something Claude Code talks to reports that it is unavailable, Claude Code raises an error saying so. That error used to hold only a message and the underlying cause. It can now also hold a wait time in milliseconds, stored as retryAfterMs, for how long to wait before trying again.
Why
When a server says how long to wait, Claude Code can keep that number and act on it instead of retrying straight away.
