Unclear It is not clear which HTTP servers are affected or whether this is active for ordinary users.
What
MCP servers are outside programs that give Claude Code extra tools and prompts. When it connects to one, Claude Code can ask straight away for the full list of what the server offers, or put that off until later. It used to skip the up-front listing only for claude.ai proxy servers that said they had tools or prompts. It now also skips it for some servers that connect over plain HTTP, depending on checks of the server's address and settings.
Why
This changes which MCP servers have their tools and prompts fetched at startup, which could change how soon those tools appear.
