What
/model switches the AI model Claude Code uses. In a remote session, where Claude Code runs in the cloud and you connect to it, the picker changes in two ways:
/modelnow looks for kept model rows saved for the session. If there are any, it opens a new picker showing them. If there are none, it uses the previous picker. This sits behind themodelCataloggate, and when that gate does not apply,/modelprints a system message instead.- The list of available models for a cloud session is now cached for each session and refreshed. Before, it was fetched once each time the picker opened.
Why
In cloud sessions the model picker can show models kept for that session and should open faster, since it no longer refetches the full list every time.
Names in the bundle/model
The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.
Added since
A small documentation edit on Error reference touched a line naming /model after this was published.
* Reduce concurrency: avoid running many parallel subagents, or switch to a smaller model with `/model` for high-volume scripted runserrors see the edit
Confirmed since
