What
Claude Code can run as an MCP server, a program that offers tools to other apps. In this mode it keeps a list of commands running in the background. That list can now be saved to storage:
- Each command's record is written when it runs.
- A record is removed when the command is forgotten or dropped.
- On startup, earlier records are read back and shown as ended commands.
Before, the list lived only in memory and was lost on restart. The app running Claude Code has to turn this saving on.
Why
The list of background commands can survive a restart, so earlier commands do not simply disappear.
