A plugin marketplace is a catalogue that Claude Code can install plugins from, and Claude Code keeps a list of the ones it knows about. Before, saving that list always locked the file first, so that two writers could not change it at the same time. Now the save depends on the mode Claude Code is running in:
- In one mode, the save stops early. If the scope is
raw, it is recorded as skipped. - Otherwise, the list is written without locking the file.
Claude Code can also now load seed marketplaces, which are marketplaces provided in advance. If a seed is missing, Claude Code shows a warning and carries on.
In practice, saving the marketplace list behaves differently depending on how Claude Code is running. A missing seed marketplace produces a warning rather than an error.
