What
Plan mode is a mode where Claude plans its work for your approval before making changes. Claude now runs a permission check when it asks to enter plan mode. In some cases, when you are not already in auto mode or plan mode, Claude Code asks "Enter plan mode?" and waits for your answer.
Only you can answer this question. The automatic check that can approve some actions for you cannot approve it.
Why
In plan mode, that automatic check may approve read-only actions that you would otherwise be asked about. Asking you first means Claude cannot switch you into that looser approval on its own.
