Terminal UIArea: what it touches
ImprovementsKind: in v2.1.302,
ImprovementsSection of the release
What
Terminals use hidden control codes, called escape sequences, to add colour and style or to make text a clickable link. Claude Code has rewritten how it wraps long lines that contain these codes:
It keeps track of where each escape sequence sits in the line.
Wide characters and emoji are swapped for temporary stand-ins only when the codes around them are plain styling or link codes.
If the wrapped lines already fit the window, it can wrap again without its special handling for clickable links.
Before, every emoji was swapped for a stand-in whatever codes surrounded it.
Why
This is likely to fix lines that broke at the wrong place or came out too wide when they mixed emoji, styled text and clickable links.
