What
Remote Control connects a Claude Code session to the Claude app. A cloud session can now ask, through claude remote-control, to use a folder on your computer:
- A new permission card asks "Let this cloud session use a folder on your computer?". It says Claude can run commands and read and change files in that folder, including in auto mode, and that stopping
claude remote-controlor disconnecting in the Claude app ends it. - The request must carry exactly three text values, and the folder path and computer name must be single lines and are cleaned up before display. A request that does not fit is denied.
- Approving or denying sends back the original request unchanged, not an edited version or permission changes.
- Remote sessions can answer these folder prompts with a pinned allow (
pinComputerFolderAllow). Before, only the repository-trust question was handled this way. - This sits behind a server-controlled flag,
tengu_violin_colophony, which falls back to off if no answer arrives. When it is on, acomputerFolderPromptoption is added as well. In earlier readings the flag server returned it on for this site's account and for the anonymous baseline; it has not been read under this release yet.
Why
If you use Remote Control, you may be asked to give a cloud session access to a local folder. Approving it lets Claude run commands and change files there, even in auto mode, until you stop claude remote-control or disconnect.
tengu_violin_colophony Off by default, switched on for this accountThe shipped code defaults this off, and the flag server returned on for the one account this site reads on this version. That is the reading that makes the entry above worth a second look, and it still says nothing about your account.
This account: on · anonymous baseline: on · compiled default in v2.1.302: off
These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.
Read once, for one account on one subscription tier, against v2.1.302. It isn't a statement about your account. What a flag value here can and cannot tell you
