What
The Agent tool lets Claude hand work to a subagent, a separate helper that works on its own task. Claude Code tells Claude how to use the tool with a written description. That description can now be assembled in a second, shorter layout when a certain condition holds. Before, there was only the one long layout.
The notes given to subagents can also switch to different wording. Examples are that a subagent started earlier cannot be continued, so every call starts fresh, and that a subagent's working folder is reset between shell commands.
The Agent tool's default description in this release is the same as in v2.1.300.
Why
Some sessions could see different instructions for subagents than the default.
