What

When part of a conversation is removed, by rewinding or by cutting context (for example during compaction), Claude Code forgets which files and skills it had already shown the model. That cleanup now covers more.

  • collectRewoundFileTrackingPaths now also returns spelledFilePaths: the file paths exactly as a tool wrote them, where they differ from their fully resolved form. Before, it returned only readFilePaths and nestedMemoryPaths.
  • After a context cut, those spelled paths are also removed from the record of files already read.
  • Skills announced in the removed messages (through skill_listing attachments) are removed from the record of skills already sent, so they can be listed again.

Why

Files reached through a different spelling of their path, such as a symbolic link (a shortcut to another location), are less likely to be wrongly treated as still known. Skills from removed messages are no longer treated as already announced, so the model can be told about them again.
