When a session starts, Claude Code now completes an extra step linked to SessionStart before it begins processing messages. SessionStart is the hook event that fires when a session begins or resumes. A hook is a command you configure to run automatically at such moments.

This may change the timing or ordering of SessionStart hooks relative to the first messages of a session.
