Unclear It does not name the tool or command that does this publishing, so it is unclear where you would run into the denial.

What

Auto mode is a permission mode where an automatic check decides whether Claude may take an action, instead of asking you each time. Publishing a file with edits now goes through a new permission step. If the automatic check cannot see the edits, the publish is denied. Claude is told to make the change with the Edit tool first, and then publish the file without edits.

Before, the decision was a simple rule that allowed the publish or asked you, with no case for edits the check could not see.

Why

This closes a gap where edits made during a publish could slip past the automatic permission check.
