A teammate is a helper agent, a separate copy of Claude working on part of a task, that runs inside the same Claude Code process. When a teammate is resumed, Claude Code now runs a plugin hook check first. A hook is a script that runs automatically at a set point, and a plugin is an add-on package for Claude Code. If a hook denies the resume, it fails with the message "Subagent resume denied by a plugin". Before, resuming a teammate ran no such check.
Why
Plugins can now stop a teammate from being picked up again. If a resume fails with that message, the cause is one of your plugins.
