What
Some remote sessions run on a worker inside a shared host that serves several users. If that host shuts the worker down while a turn is running, the result Claude Code reports now has a documented outcome for this case. The turn is left for the session's next worker to pick up.
When a worker shuts down, it can now release its lease. The lease is the worker's claim on the session. It does this when the client disconnected partway through a turn. There is also a new way to close a worker and release its lease so another worker can take over. Before, shutting down never released the lease.
Why
Remote and cloud sessions can move more cleanly from one worker to another when a host shuts down in the middle of a turn.
