What probably matters to youSection of the release
Unclear Whether Claude Code actually blocks the tools named in disallowed_tools is not shown, only that the setting is accepted.
What
The configuration used for cloud and headless runs (sessions that run without you typing into a terminal) already accepted timeout_seconds and allowed_tools. It now also accepts disallowed_tools, an optional list of tool names. Tools are the actions Claude can take, such as reading files or running commands.
Why
A request to start one of these runs can now name tools to deny outright, rather than only listing the tools that are allowed.

Since it was published
The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.
Added sinceA small documentation edit on Configure permissions touched a line naming allowed_tools after this was published.Allow rules accept tool-name globs only after a literal `mcp__<server>__` prefix. The server segment must be glob-free so the rule names a specific server you configured: `mcp__puppeteer__*` matches every tool from the `puppeteer` server, …agent-sdk/permissionssee the edit
