What
Agent view is the screen that lists your sessions without being attached to one. Some commands typed there used to only say they were not available.
/effortnow acts in agent view. Its description is "Set effort for new sessions from this window (not saved)". It acceptsdefault, autoor an effort level, and mentionsultracode./fastnow acts in agent view and turns fast mode on or off for new sessions from this window, also not saved. It acceptson, offordefault, and says "Fast mode is not available" when fast mode is off.- Commands that still cannot run in agent view now say "open a session and run it there" instead of "attach to a session to run it".
Why
You can choose the effort level and fast mode for the sessions you start next without attaching to one first. These choices apply only to new sessions started from that window and are not saved.
The entry above is what we published on the day. These lines were added later, as Anthropic's own pages caught up, and they sit beside the original rather than replacing it.

Fast mode for Claude Opus 5.5 doesn't need the `fast-mode-2026-02-01` beta header or an access request. Requests that still send the header keep working. Fast mode for Claude Opus 5 and Claude Opus 4.8 is in research preview: contact your …build-with-claude/fast-mode see the edit
