Unclear Whether the server-controlled setting this check needs is switched on is not known.

What

Plugins are add-ons that extend Claude Code. Plugin sync brings the plugins on your account into a session.

  • A new check runs at the start of each turn, meaning each time Claude starts working on a message. It looks at whether your account's plugin listing has changed and reloads plugins if it has.
  • The check is active only when the environment variables CLAUDE_CODE_REMOTE and CLAUDE_CODE_SYNC_PLUGINS are both true, the session is not excluded, and the flag tengu_ccr_plugins_turn_start_check_enabled is on. Nothing has been read about that flag.
  • If the check fails you see "Couldn't check your plugins for updates. The versions already loaded are still in use." If a reload fails you see "Couldn't finish reloading your plugins after a change. Parts of their earlier versions may still be in use until a reload succeeds."
  • Each sync round now records a listedStamp and increases a changesLanded count when changes arrive or the stamp changes.
  • New helpers record which synced plugin folders were loaded in this process (syncedDirsLoadedHere), and the loader records them after loading.

Why

In hosted sessions, plugin changes on your account could be picked up during a session instead of only when it starts. The warnings tell you when the plugins in use may be older versions.
