When Claude searches the web, Claude Code makes a separate call to a model that does the searching. The instructions that call starts with were a single line, "You are an assistant for performing a web search tool use". They now explain that the search is for another Claude model that is waiting and can search again, and they ask for one search followed by a brief summary of the results.
Why
This changes how much the search returns, and so what Claude sees from a web search. Expect shorter, summarised results, with Claude searching again when it needs more.
