What
A transcript is the file where Claude Code saves a conversation. Claude Code now reads these files more carefully:
- It now handles the carriage-return character (
\r) where it separates lines.
- It copes with the special Unicode line and paragraph separator characters (U+2028 and U+2029) when they appear inside a line.
- It records how many bytes each line takes up.
- When it reads the end of a transcript, it measures the file's size and its last change time more precisely.
Before, lines were taken as they came.
Why
This is likely to help with saved sessions that were corrupted or only partly written, so they load more reliably.
