What
Claude Code estimates how much of the conversation's space each tool result takes up. A tool result is what comes back when Claude uses a tool. Search result blocks inside those results are now counted by the size of their content. Before, they counted as nothing.
Why
The estimate is more accurate. That estimate affects when tool results are shortened or the conversation is summarized to save space.
