Unclear It is not clear what happens to the request after the approval is withheld, for example whether you are asked again.
What
Permissions decide which actions Claude Code may take without asking, such as running a command or editing a file. When an approval comes with permission changes to save, Claude Code now counts how many stricter rules would be lost. Stricter rules are ones that block an action or narrow it. If any would be lost, Claude Code does not issue the approval. Before this build the approval was always issued.
Why
This is a safety guard. Approving an action can no longer quietly remove a rule that was there to block or restrict it.
