A permission mode decides how freely Claude Code may act without asking you first. When you move a session from your terminal to the cloud, the request can now carry your permission mode. Before, it carried only the environment and the branch for the result.
The mode is sent only when all of these hold:
- your terminal last reported
automode - a remote kill switch is not turned on (it is off unless switched on remotely)
- auto mode is allowed for you
- your settings can be read
If the server refuses the mode, Claude Code retries the move without it, so the cloud session starts in the default mode. The request can also carry details about which version of your code the session is based on.
A session you move to the cloud can carry on in auto mode instead of quietly dropping back to the default and asking for approvals again.
tengu_happy_ocean Off in both readingsThe flag server returned off for the account this site reads and for the anonymous baseline. A reading of off cannot rule out a rollout these two readings sit outside of.
This account: off · anonymous baseline: off · compiled default in v2.1.296: off
These values were read against a different version of Claude Code, so treat them as the nearest reading available instead of one taken on this release.
Read once, for one account on one subscription tier, against v2.1.296. It isn't a statement about your account. What a flag value here can and cannot tell you
