What
Claude Code fetches a list of models and what they can do. Before, it fetched this list every time it was asked for it. It now skips the fetch:
- when its saved copy of the model list is recent enough, logging "[modelCapabilities] cached model list is recent enough, not fetching"
- in some environments, through an extra check at the start
Why
This cuts down the number of requests Claude Code makes when it starts up.
