What
Windows files usually end lines with two characters, a carriage return then a newline, while other systems use just the newline. When Claude Code trims a single trailing line break from some text, it now checks which kind is there and removes the whole thing. Before, it only removed the newline, so Windows-style text could keep a stray carriage return at the end.
Why
Text from Windows-style files no longer ends with a hidden leftover character.
