What

Claude Code has gained groundwork for moving an agent that is already running in the foreground into the background, where it keeps working while you carry on. An agent here is a helper Claude starts to work on a task.

When such moves are allowed, the check for whether background tasks are disabled now also looks at backgroundAgentLaunchDisabled, the setting that blocks background agents from launching.

The preview tunnel, a connection used to show previews, also now counts the bytes and messages it carries.

Why

If you block background agents, that block also covers moving a running agent into the background.
