What

An artifact is a piece of content Claude creates and can share. Claude Code now checks which facts about an artifact have changed between uses:

  • ownership
  • audience
  • whether it is shared live
  • whether it is co-written
  • whether it is being watched

It describes the artifact in plain phrases such as "an artifact whose owner could not be confirmed" or notes that its watch has been stopped. It also records whether the difference comes from a first look, a real change, or a failed check.

Why

Claude gets clearer wording when an artifact's sharing state shifts between uses.
