Unclear Which tools were previously still offered despite being left out of --tools is not stated.
What
--tools is a command-line option you give when starting Claude Code. It restricts which built-in tools Claude can use. Tools are the actions Claude can take, such as reading files or running commands.
A tool that is not on the session's --tools list, and that no deny rule names, is now withheld. Claude Code shows a warning that the tool is not on the list. The warning says to name the tool in --tools if you want Claude to have it.
Why
A restricted --tools list is now enforced more strictly. If a tool you expected is missing, add it to --tools.
