Claude Code has a cleanup step that trims leftover messages from the end of a conversation's transcript, which is the saved record of the conversation. Before, it ran only when every later message was a system message. It can now also pass over empty entries left by SessionStart hooks. A hook is a command you configure Claude Code to run at a set moment, and SessionStart hooks run when a session begins or resumes. This applies to their progress and success entries, and only when a related setting is present and a second internal switch is on.
The cleanup sits behind a remote switch that falls back to off when the server sends nothing. In a reading taken before this release, the server returned that switch as on for this site's account and for an anonymous check.
Empty SessionStart hook leftovers at the end of a transcript no longer stop this cleanup from running.
tengu_silly_waterfall Off by default, switched on for this accountThe shipped code defaults this off, and the flag server returned on for the one account this site reads on this version. That is the reading that makes the entry above worth a second look, and it still says nothing about your account.
