Unclear It is not stated whether this prompt is switched on for everyone or controlled by a remote setting.
What
The prompt cache is a short-lived store that lets Claude Code reuse earlier parts of a conversation, so it does not have to send them again in full. Claude Code now checks whether this cache is about to expire while you are idle, and can ask you about it. When this check is active, it replaces the usual idle hint. It is turned off in some situations.
Why
You only see this prompt when the cache is about to go cold. It gives you a chance to decide what to do before the cached conversation is lost.
