What
Several new pieces appeared in Claude Code:
- a new hook point named
prompt.compose, next to the existing points for prompt sections, context and attachments
- a beta setting for keeping the prompt cache alive,
cache-keepalive-2026-09-03
- an extra rule in how tools are allowed to run unattended
Why
These look like early signs of new ways to build prompts and to keep cached conversation data from expiring.
