What
Some replies carry citations, references that point at an exact span of characters in the text by start and end position. When Claude Code rewrites a block of text to clean it up, it now removes any citation that points at a position in that text. Before, the text was replaced and the citations were left as they were.
Why
After a rewrite, the old positions no longer match the text, so the citations would point at the wrong words.
