When Claude Code tries to read a stage file and fails, the failure it reports now includes a marker saying whether the error is permanent, meaning trying again will not help. Before, the failure carried only the error itself. Claude Code decides whether an error is permanent by sorting it into known kinds of error.
Why
With this marker, the parts of Claude Code that handle the failure can stop retrying a read that will never succeed.
