What

Claude Code keeps a running record of the requests a session sends. That record now stores the last prompt you typed. Its notes on cache timing now also include which model was used and when the request was sent. A prompt cache is a short-lived store that lets repeated parts of a conversation be reused instead of resent. Claude Code can also now check whether the most recent request in the main conversation is still in progress.

Why

These details feed the logic that keeps the prompt cache from expiring.
