What
A git bundle is a single file that holds a repository's history. Claude Code checks the folder structure stored in such a bundle to make sure it has not been tampered with. That check used to run in one unbroken stretch, which could hold up everything else on large repositories. It now pauses after every batch of entries or bytes so Claude Code can keep responding.
Why
It reduces stalls when starting a cloud session from a large repository.
