What
Claude Code checks regularly for sessions (separate running conversations) that are waiting for your input, and nudges you about them. When fetching the list of sessions failed, it used to treat the failure as an empty list, so the counts dropped to zero. Now it keeps the previous counts and logs a warning once, beginning [fleet nudge] listing sessions failed for a reason that may pass. The failure count resets when the window regains focus.
Why
A brief network or listing problem no longer makes waiting sessions seem to vanish from the counts.
