What
Before saving a conversation to disk, Claude Code cuts down the output of tool calls (the actions Claude takes, such as reading a file or running a command) that it stores. That pass used to skip messages marked as virtual. It now includes them and rebuilds them in their trimmed form.
Why
This affects how large stored conversation transcripts are.
