What
Skills, agents and custom commands are defined in files that start with a short header block called frontmatter, which includes a name. Claude Code now rejects a name longer than 256 characters and shows an error that names must be at most that long. Before, there was no length check.
Why
Any existing skill, agent or command with a very long name will stop loading until the name is shortened.
